Hokkaido (北海道 Hokkaidō, literally "Northern Sea Circuit") (Japanese: [hokkaidoː]  formerly known as Ezo, Yezo,Yeso, or Yesso, is the second largest island of Japan, and the largest and northernmost prefecture.
