Liverpool v Man Utd: How to watch the game – Match Preview – Memorable Moments
As rivalries go in the English Premier League, none get bigger than Liverpool v Man Utd. Especially when both teams are on form and needing a win. Liverpool v Man Utd Preview
There have been some absolute classic’s between these 2 sides throughout the years. Both teams have enjoyed rich histories of success and often seem to be taking it in turns to be on top. And it finally looks Manchester Utd are starting to turn the corner under manger Erik ten Hag. Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, Man Utd have struggled to replicate the success that the Scotsman had in his 26 year managerial stint at Old Trafford.
In 2015 Jurgen Klopp joined Liverpool who were still chasing their first league title since since the 1989/90 season. It’s safe to say the charismatic German manager brought a new energy to Liverpool which galvanised the players, the club and the massive fan base around the world. Since joining the famous club, Klopp has brought success: An EFL Trophy, FA Cup Trophy, Champions League Trophy and an English Premier League title.
Despite taking the English Premier League title chase down to the wire with Manchester City last season, winning the EFL Cup and making it to the FA Cup Final and Champions League Final, Liverpool have struggled this season. Disappointing results in the league and in Europe has seen some pressure starting to mount on the players and manager. Languishing down in 6th place in the league they go into this game 10 points behind Man Utd who are up in third.
Can Man Utd catch Arsenal and Man City?
Man Utd are the team on form going into this game against Liverpool. And with 2 games in hand over Arsenal and Man City, a lot has been said about their chances of closing the gap between 1st and 2nd spot and mounting a late title challenge of their own. This is what makes their trip to Anfield such a big game for the club. A win against Liverpool and it takes them a step closer to challenging Arsenal and Man City. However, a defeat or a draw could make the points difference too much for them to be able to realistically catch the top 2.
A win for Liverpool will bring them into that important top 5. They will need to battle it out with Tottenham, Newcastle and Fulham for 4th place and automatic qualification to the Champions League.
